Dear AGYA Friends and Supporters,
I am proud to announce that AGYA has been registered as a non-profit public charity in the State of California. AGYA will be conducting business under the name "AGYA International." Your donations can now be made payable to "AGYA International" and can be mailed to our new office, which is located at 1620 Centinela Avenue, Suite 303, Inglewood, California 90302.
AGYA International will continue to facilitate the creation of safe, supportive, sustainable community centers where urban youth can develop leadership skills and express themselves creatively. We currently have 1 community center in Uganda, and our team is strategizing to reach our goal of opening 5 new urban community centers in Africa that will train and mobilize 10,000 youth to use performing and media arts as a platform to advocate for education, economic development and social change in their communities by 2020.
AGYA's Staff is working diligently to streamline our operations as we transition out of our partnership with the African Millennium Foundation, an organization that has served as our fiscal sponsor since January 2009. We are so thankful for the guidance of the African Millennium Foundation staff whose support has been instrumental to AGYA's success thus far.
As we take this next step in our journey towards sustainability, we look forward to your continued support as AGYA seeks to scale up our programs and increase our impact in the lives of youth throughout Africa. Stay tuned for news and updates! Within the next month, we will announce our new Board of Directors, a dynamic group of committed individuals who will lead AGYA into the next phase of our organizational development. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have questions about AGYA International.
Sincerely,
Divinity Matovu
Executive Director, AGYA
